Set your Adobe DRM protected ebooks free with Linux, Wine and Calibre

Yes, it is possible without windows. All you need is a special ( old ) version of Adobe Digital Editions ( ADE ), it can be downloaded from the University of Chicago Press.

First setup Calibre as posted in the next articles :

Install wine, if it’s not already installed on your system. You can do that using your favorite packet manager.
Download Adobe Digital Editions here and install it in wine.

Import your ebooks in ADE. If you can read them it’s time to start Calibre. Now import your books from the ” My Digital Editions ” folder in wine ( in my case : ~/.wine/drive_c/users/arie/My Documents/My Digital Editions ) in Calibre.
That’s it, your ebooks are now DRM free.
